LISAWE is a non-governmental and non-profit organization (NGO) established in 1999 by ten visionary women and indigenous individuals of the Lindi region in the southern part of Tanzania. Officially registered under the Trusteeship Ordinance Cap 358 on 18th October 2000, and subsequently registered under the enactment of the NGO Act of 2002 in 2007, LISAWE has been dedicated to enhancing community health through intervention activities in HIV/TB, Malaria, Maternal and newborn health for the past 24 years.In addition to its health-focused initiatives, LISAWE is actively involved in addressing environmental and climate change issues, promoting gender equality and inclusion, advancing education, fostering democracy and good governance, and advocating for social justice. At the heart of its programs, LISAWE places a strong emphasis on prioritizing the needs of women, children, and youth within the communities it serves.
To empower community to combat poverty through various capacity-building initiatives in health, education, entrepreneurship, environment, and other cross-cutting areas such as gender and human rights, while fostering collaboration with stakeholders.
